A new update has been released for Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, the phone that is specially designed to aid gamers. However, the update has not been officially announced. Update is for Sony Ericsson Xperia Android Gingerbread 2.3.4. A special feature in the update is the presence of 720 pixel high definition video capture that is also equipped with constant auto focus, which is customized for Xperia play. The release has not yet been announced or launched officially but several Xperia users have claimed to have already received the update. Videos have also been posted on forums for public viewing. As of now, over-the-air update is not being released. However, there have been confirmations about the impending over the air release. Further, it is also being expected that the update will be released and made available by means of PC companion. 

Sony has a very strong hold on the mobile and console gaming industry. With the release of Play Station it created waves in the world of hand help gaming. Sony followed up with its reputation by releasing smart phones like Xperia Play. The phone has a special design that is convenient for gaming. The control pad of the game is of the slide-out variety. The device also has double analog sticks that respond to touch. Although Xperia has a number of features that are highly suitable for gaming, it lacked certain features in video recording. With this update, the phone has been made more comprehensive and its functionality has been largely increased. It can now act as a powerful camera as well as high definition video capturing device.

The gaming experience is also enhanced and improved with the inclusion of high definition features. It is definitely expected to garner positive reviews from all users. Another Sony gadget that is expected to have an upgrade of Video Unlimited is Sony Tablet S. This gadget will be updated with Android 3.2 Honeycomb. The launch date of the update has not been provided as yet. All that Sony has said is that the release will be made available soon. The exact time frame has not been mentioned. It has, however, been known that the size of the upgrade file will be 181MB and this will require a high speed internet for download. Since most of the Sony upgrades have come as per schedule, it is expected that this upgrade will also be made available soon.
