At the 2011 Imagine Cup series in New York, Chief Executive Officer of the global software giant, Steve Ballmer more than 400 newbie programmers, who are presently participating in the competition to Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) that includes poverty, education, disease, environmental by sustaining it with technology.
Balmer believes that technology is the answer to the current crisis that all countries are facing.
Balmer says that the attending students are there because they are among the best in the world. Microsoft aims to transform the world by using technology as a medium. The students are there because of their innovative ideas. Balmer challenges students to take their ideas to the next level through the use of technology and solve the greatest problem that the world is facing such as food crisis, climate change and other things that are affecting the lives of a normal person.
Balmer thinks that one that technology could bring innovation to the lives of many, also added that the journey starts here. Technology can affect science, medicine, business, social issues and personal interactions in ways that are going to help people live a lot easier.
John Perera, General Manager Microsoft Academic, said that the survival of mankind is within the use of technology. Technology should be use to solve the toughest problem of the world. By participating in the Imagine Cup 2011, one is getting ready for the big fight that one is going to face over the years. Like anything, the fight will be challenging and tough, but one needs to rise to the situation since they are the future leaders who are going to replace the technology gurus in the coming days.
The students are the center of innovation. Show one’s passion by doing their best at everything they are doing. Perera thanks the student for representing their country, their schools and regions. Added the incubation of software programmer is just the first step for finding the needed solution for the world’s problem.
Jeffrey D. Sachs, the Director of The Earth Institute, Quetelet Professor of Sustainable Development, and Professor of Health Policy and Management at Columbia University claim that the students have more work to do using the technology.
As the world is in the blink of destruction, the student’s homework is going to be saving the planet from its own distraction. With the creativity in their head, the students have the capability to save the environment with technology.
