Microsoft Claims To Use Siri-like Feature For A Long Time

Craig Mundie, the Chief Research and Strategy Officer of Microsoft at the Techonomy conference held in Tuscon in Arizona has unexpectedly claimed that Apple’s Siri is not something new, but it is a feature that Microsoft has incorporated in Windows Phone 7 years ago. While Forbes arranged an interview with him he proposed that Microsoft could be considered of the same standard as Apple in technical capability. Apple could not be said to lead the race with their unique voice assistance system, Siri because with the introduction of the Windows phone 7 years ago, Microsoft introduced a similar feature, called “Tellme” in the market.

Mundie has drawn attention to the fact that the feature that was incorporated in Windows phone 7 in 2007 serves the same purpose that the Siri serves.  So, windows phone 7 users and Xbox users are already using the feature for a long time. Tellme helps with directions, surfs through net and even sends text messages. Tellme even has more functionality than Siri like transliterating voicemails to text mails.

Craig has pointed out that Apple is far ahead than any other tech company in marketing. That is why people get to know about its features more than the features of other devices of any other company. He has proposed that they must concentrate more on advertising on their products. He has also mentioned that Apple has nothing to do other than emphasizing on Siri’s advertisement because users were already disgusted with them due to the battery drainage of iPhone 4S.

Apple may say in their support that they have made the technology of voice assistance much advanced than it was in past. However, we have to admit that although Microsoft used the voice assistance feature much ago than Apple, the latest additions in the voice assistance system is totally Apple’s credit.
