Ideapad K1 Is Quite Great

The market for tablets is full of fierce competitors and it is growing day by day. Lenovo has recently produced the IdeaPad K1 which promises a great deal at a fair amount of money. Indeed the $499 price tag may probably be justified considering the fact that the tablet is pretty good in terms of both its looks and performance. The tablet possesses the Android Honeycomb in its 10.1 inch display. Now, it is to be seen whether this new addition to the tablet market can offer some of the best features possible or not. The IdeaPad K1 has the 1 GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 processor and along with it a RAM of 1GB. The tablet was exceptionally good in its performance. However it must be said that the tablet failed to respond at times which is a very bad news. The graphics performance was on the other hand one of the best.

The Android 3.1 Honeycomb user interface has been modified in a lot of ways in the IdeaPad K1. The background consists of a wheat field similar to the types found in the countryside. There are numerous other options on the home screen like Home, the App Wheel that helps a person to launch six preferred apps, Recent Apps, sleep button, etc. The centre of the display screen has the Lenovo Launcher Widget which consists of options “Watch”, “Listen”, “Read”, “E-mail” and the internet. Through the settings button people can modify these options and enable themselves to load their favourite apps through these options.

The tablet has some good number of very useful apps and interesting games. But many of them are trial versions. The battery backup is around 8 hours.

The IdeaPad K1 is one very nice looking tablet. The red back, the glossy front and the chrome sides give a very classy look to the tablet. The display of the tablet is of 10.1 inches with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels. The pictures were quite vibrant and detailed on this display and resolution. It was fairly satisfying to watch videos and movies on this display. The sound quality was decent but not of the best quality.

The 5 megapixel camera with a flash can take nice images. The 720p videos were good but were not bright. The 2 megapixel camera at the front enables video chatting.

Many ports and buttons including the microSD reader, USB and HDMI ports, volume rocker and headphone jack are present. The Honeycomb keyboard works well.

The IdeaPad K1 has some great features and it will be interesting to see whether it can compete with the bests in the tablet market
