The demands of consumers are becoming more and more complex. In the age of tablets, smart phones and laptops it is becoming tougher everyday to survive in the market as new devices with even better specifications are being produced at regular intervals. The Acer Iconia Tab A100 has a decent price tag but it is to be seen whether it will be able to topple its competitors with some great specifications or not. The tablet has already grabbed eyeballs as it is the first tablet to have the Android Honeycomb in its 7 inch display. The processor of the Acer Iconia Tab A100 is the Nvidia Tegra 2. It has a RAM of 1GB. Combined with the two of them the tablet was pretty good with its performance. It was quite smooth and quick in its activities. However the battery backup was not one of the best available.
The tablet with its 1530 mAh Li-polymer battery ran for a time of around five and half hours approximately. The A100 comes under two versions based on two levels of internal memory storage. The 16GB storage version is priced at $349 and the 8GB version comes at a slightly lower price of $329. With the help of a microSD memory card slot the memory storage can be increased up to 32GB.
The Android OS 3.2 mostly recognised as the Honeycomb comes for the first time in a 7 inch tablet in the Acer Iconia A100. The Google apps namely the Gmail, Google books, Google Movies and others are available. Apart from the regular things, the apps of the related items like eReading, Social Multimedia and Game Zone can be arranged under their respective heads in the A100. The Android Movie Studio is useful as it helps us to merge videos and images and also perform some other interesting stuff. The Clear fi which is normally found in the Acer notebooks and computers is available in this tablet. The Social Jogger enables the user to use both FaceBook and Twitter at the same time.
The front of the tablet is in black while the back is in dark grey. The 1024×600 7 inch display produced some nice pictures. The sound quality was surprisingly great as they were loud enough and quite clear. The 5 megapixel camera at the back was not however of the best quality. The videos were ordinary and the images should have been better. The 2 megapixel camera at the front was good for video chat.
MicroSD slot, HDMI port, volume rocker and a 3.5 mm headphone jack are present. The USB port is not full-size.
The Acer Iconia Tab A100 combines Honeycomb in the 7 inch display with some very good overall performances and it is worth a buy.
